The aorta is the main artery in your body. It goes from your heart all the way down your abdomen near your groin.
* Aortic annulus = 22 x 28mm
* Sinuses of Valsalva = 41~46mm
* Sinotubular junction = 41mm
* Ascending aorta at RPA = 31mm
* Ascending aorta at innominate = 20mm
* Transverse distal arch = 18mm
* Descending aorta at RPA = 17mm
* Descending aorta at hiatus = 17mm
As you can see, my aortic annulus, , ascending aorta at innominate and rpa are all just under the benchmark for surgery. My sinuses of valsalva and sintubular junction has surpassed the level required for surgery. Again, this was back in 2013. The news I received last month was that there has been further enlargement, which is why I just had another MRI. I will post results when I get them....
So what can be done about this? Well, the surgery I will most likely have is the Bentall procedure, which replaces the ascending aorta and aortic valve (I have two leaky valves which causes blood to flow backwards in the heart). This is what that procedure looks like:
Here is what the dacron graft with the artificial valve looks like:
